The Lewis County Middle School Panthers traveled to Henderson to face off with the Chester County Middle School Eagles on Thursday, September 1st.
The Panthers, facing their second straight road opponent, moved the ball well on their first possession before a crucial penalty put them behind the chains and they turned over on downs.
The Panther defense was tough on the first Eagle possession and forced a turnover.
The only scoring play in the first quarter came on Chester County's next possession as they broke away on an 82-yard touchdown run as time expired in the quarter, and with the conversion took an 8-0 lead.
The Panthers continued to struggle to sustain drives as turnovers returned possession back to the host. But the Panther defense answered the call on Chester County's next two first half possessions and the score remained 8-0 at the half.
The Panther defense would give in midway through the third quarter as Chester County punched it in from the 2 and converted the two-point run to make it a 16-0 game.
Chester County would benefit from another Panther miscue later in the third and drove down to score on a 6-yard run. With the conversion run the score was 24-0 as play moved into the final eight minutes of regulation.
The Panther offense was moving the ball in the early part of the fourth, but an interception return for a touchdown would be the final score of the game as Chester County took the win 30-0.
D.J. Stewart led the Panthers with 35 yards on 14 carries, Gavin Coker had 6 carries for 16 yards, Shawn Lewis 5 yards on 2 carries, and Kobe Feichtinger 5 carries for 4 yards. Kobe Feichtinger completed 3 of 11 passes for 48 yards and threw 3 interceptions, and D.J. Stewart missed on both of his two attempts. Dakota Hull caught 3 passes for 48 yards.
Kaden Pace had 6 tackles, Gavin Coker had 5 tackles, D.J. Stewart had 3 tackles,1 interception, and 1 fumble recovery, and Kobe Feichtinger, Carter Stewart, Brodie Unger, Clay Jackson, and Colby Cates each had a tackle.
