In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October, Lewis Health Center will offer walk-in mammography screenings Oct. 5 and 19 from 1 to 4 p.m. to provide convenient access for women seeking their annual mammogram.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, approximately one in eight women will develop breast cancer in their lifetime. The best defense is early detection, which is why health experts recommend women ages 40 and older receive a mammogram annually.
To accommodate those with busy schedules, Lewis Health Center is offering Walk-in Wednesday Mammograms on Oct. 5 and 19 from 1 to 4 p.m. No appointment is required.
Most insurance plans cover the cost of an annual screening mammogram. The Tennessee Department of Health will also be available at this time to offer free mammography screenings through the Tennessee Breast and Cervical Screening Program for those who qualify and are uninsured.
Those who prefer to schedule their mammograms at a different time may also do so by calling 931.380.4044 or 931.796.6222. Appointments are available Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Lewis Health Center’s mammography services are accredited by the American College of Radiology, which represents the highest level of image quality and patient safety. Mammography is one of several diagnostic and screening tools available in the Imaging Department at Lewis Health Center. In addition to mammography, Lewis Health Center offers MRI, ultrasound, bone densitometry and X-ray services. Learn more at MauryRegional.com/LHC.
