Betty Fay Reed Odom passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer on Saturday, October 1, 2022 surrounded by family. She was born April 2, 1942 in Lewis County to the late Fred E. Reed and Modena Respess Reed.
In 1960 she graduated from Lewis County High School. Betty loved life, serving the Lord, and never met a stranger. She poured love into her family, friends and shopping.
Betty’s survivors include her daughter, Kimberly Hensley Tatum (James); great-grandson River Carroll; son, Samuel Hensley Jr.; granddaughters, Tonia Hensley and Nicole Hensley; seven great-grandchildren; husband, Lonnie Odom; stepsons, Sam (Shirley) Odom, Rodney (Angela) Odom, and Randy (Julie) Seymour; stepdaughter, Ida Schaub; 12 step grandchildren and 24 step great-grandchildren; sisters, Doris Almarez, Irene Davis, and Ruby Brown; and brothers, Bill (Ann) Reed and Fred Reed Jr.
Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel L. Hensley; granddaughter, Stephanie Carroll; brother, Harriel Reed; and stepson, Bill Seymour.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 6, 2022 from 10:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. with service immediately following at Adair Funeral Home in Hohenwald. Officiating the service will be Terry Curtis and Doug Graham. Betty will be laid to rest at Napier cemetery.
Pallbearers will include Phillip Vandiver, Tinker Staggs, Danny Ogg, Garrett Ogg, Erik Odom, and Jacob Odom. Honorary pallbearers will be Will Davis and Jeff Reed.
