Well it is a beautiful cold morning here in our little valley. It is 34 degrees and we did have some frost on the roofs. I am not sitting out on the front porch this morning and the cats have not got up yet for their breakfast. But the sun is shining across the front yard and the sky is blue and the trees have lots of fall colors to them, so it is a really pretty fall morning.
I am sitting inside by the fireplace and I have got my cup of coffee, it is a quiet and peaceful morning. I did not build a fire in the old wood heating stove yet because it will be warming up later in the day, but Bobby has the old wood heating stove ready to go and the firewood is on the back porch.
It has been another busy week. I got a few apples and I canned a few pint jars of them. Bob loves them for breakfast on a hot biscuit. I will also use them to make us a good apple cobbler pie. We got some more yard work done but did not mow the yard because it has been too dry.
We are supposed to get some rain by the middle of this week and we may even hear some thunder, but they are calling for another cool down by the weekend. The folks that had booths and yard sales during Octoberfest sure had some good weather.
The old John Deere tractor and farm truck have been hauling a lot of hay. We saw the neighbor and the boys hauling a lot this week. His cows will be fed good this winter, he takes good care of them.
The gas prices are jumping back up at the pumps again. Last week I went to the grocery store and when I got home, I checked the receipt and some things had gone up twenty cents. I saw one lady putting something back on the shelf and she said to me “I can make do without that”. I thought to myself, we can all say that about some things. I do not think any of us will go hungry or do without anything that we really need, but we all can be more careful about what we buy and do. I think this mess we are in has been a good learning experience for some of us.
The cats just got up and are ready to eat their breakfast. It has warmed up a little and they are hungry. I will get them fed and then I have got a busy day ahead. Bob has got the breakfast dishes washed and the kitchen spotless. Ladies don’t you all think I am blessed? Now if I could just teach him how to cook!
I hope you all enjoy this beautiful fall weather. I was thinking the holidays will be here soon, we need to start preparing for them. But let’s all enjoy this day.
I am not going to worry about tomorrow and I am going to take one day at a time because God still has it all under control and he is the light at the end of the tunnel.
God bless
