In case you haven't been to town lately, I'll just go ahead and warn you. Christmas exploded! And, I say that not in the "Grinch" way, but in the "Elf" way.
The Grinches would ask why we're skipping Thanksgiving and putting so much energy into Christmas this early. However, if we (as a community) waited until after Thanksgiving to start decorating, we'd be scrambling to have everything ready in time for The South Central Area Fair Board Christmas Parade, presented by Lewis & Clarke's Restaurant, which kicks off Christmas in Hohenwald.
This year's theme, "A BARNYARD CHRISTMAS" is shaping up to be a fun one. Entries from several counties have come in online, and we'd love to have you as well! Find the rules, details and registration page online at http://www.scafair.org/abarnyardchristmasparade. Registration is free, and cash prizes will be awarded to the winner of each class!
The route this year is in reverse starting on North Park! And, while the parade will be streamed live on Facebook and aired on 90.3 fm The Fair, there's nothing like standing beside your fellow community members, catching candy or "mayornnaise" packets and waving at your friends on the floats they worked so hard on! Not to mention, Jolly Ol' you-know-who will be there!
There's also been some talk of a foot race between local businessmen... who knows what could happen when you get a family community together during the holidays.
We'll see you downtown December 1, at 7 p.m.!
