Drugs confiscated in traffic stop

The Hohenwald Police Department was attempting to make a traffic stop on a cross-tagged vehicle Friday afternoon, December 2, on Swan Avenue when the white Chevrolet 1500 pulled into 109 Swan Avenue. The tag registration belongs on a blue Acura 4 door car.

"Once the vehicle came to a complete stop, the driver, later identified as Jimmy Pruitt, Jr., exited the vehicle and began to flee into the woods behind 109 Swan."

After a short foot pursuit, officers captured Pruitt under a porch on Cedar Street. He was found with multiple drugs on his person. Dispatch confirmed that Pruitt has outstanding felony warrants out of Hickman County.

Hohenwald Police Chief Kip Kelsey stated that Pruitt has a long rap sheet.

Another unidentified male in the truck fled in another direction and got away.

The Chevrolet was also searched where a marijuana cigarette was found.

Pruitt was taken to Lewis County Jail and charged with simple possession of Marijuana, simple possession of Suboxone, simple possession of Meth, evading arrest, and misuse of registration. A TBI lab test was submitted for identification and weight of all narcotics.
