When I hear "the thin blue line," my mind immediately goes to "serve and protect." This holiday season, the Hohenwald Police Department stepped back up to the plate for another serving of Blue Christmas. The second annual event brought 911 Dispatch, the 4-H Extension Office, Hope Hohenwald, Inc. and Farm Bureau together to serve 160 plates of Christmas dinner to citizens around the community.

The Hohenwald Police Department hosted the meal at the Lewis County Senior Center where folks could sit around a dining table and enjoy each other's company. For those unable to make it to town, HPD coordinated with SCATS to serve meals to them at their homes along with gifts and other treats. "The community has a number of programs and resources for our youth at this time of year," said Chief of Police Kip Kelsey, "we wanted to extend the reach to our elder population. We are proud to work with all the volunteers to make this possible each year. Our goal is to serve 200 plates in 2023."
