Michael "Punkin" Durall Barnes

October 25, 1977 - December 8, 2022

Michael "Punkin" Durall Barnes passed away on December 8, 2022 at the age of 45. Punkin was born on October 25, 1977 at Maury Regional to Michael Dale and Shirley Onedia (Conner) Barnes.

Punkin was a 1995 graduate of Lewis County High School. He created a career working in the forestry industry. He worked hard at whatever he did; whether that was in forestry, working at the sawmill or farming. Punkin was known for being a cut up. He was always making people laugh and could light up a room with just his presence. Punkin was a generous and giving man - if he didn't have what someone needed, he wouldn't hesitate to borrow it so he could help out someone in need. Punkin loved to be outdoors and enjoyed spending time deep sea fishing with his Florida family.

Punkin leaves behind to cherish his memory his parents, Michael and Shirley Barnes of Summertown; sister, B.J. (Kevin) Carroll of Summertown; brother, Shawn Barnes of Summertown; nieces, Morgan (Will) Byrd, Allee Carroll, and Emmy Carroll; great-nephew, Rhett Byrd; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family and friends.

Punkin was preceded in death by his grandparents, Thomas and Martha Barnes and Harless and Jewel Conner.

Funeral service was held on Sunday, December 11 in the chapel at McDonald Funeral Home Hohenwald with Kyle Conner and Charles "BB" Barwick officiating. Burial followed in Baugus Cemetery.
