One Day at a Time

Series: One day at a time | Story 82

Well it is a cold winter like morning here in our little valley. We have got a good warm fire in the old wood heating stove and the house is warm and comfortable.

The cats did not get up early this morning, when it is real cold they stay in their bed. But when I called them for breakfast they knew that they would be having a bowl of warm milk so they came running. No, they are not spoiled.

Bob has the breakfast dishes washed and the kitchen spotless. Now I have got to start doing some Christmas time baking, Christmas will be here before we know it.

Have you all been to downtown Hohenwald and drove through the park yet? It is beautiful, we have been through the park a couple of times, you just can not see everything the first time. It is so pretty.

I hope you all are ready for Christmas, the weather forecasters are saying we may get a little snow and some really cold temperatures, as long as it is just a little snow it sure will be nice to have a white Christmas.

We went shopping a few days ago and it was really busy. It did not seem like peoples shopping carts were full, I guess some people are like me and are cutting back since the cost of living is going up everywhere, and you can not get kids anything anymore that they do not already have, so what do you buy them?

For the holidays we all get together and have a good time, we all eat a good meal and finally have time to see each other, and the great grandkids play and have fun.

I know the holidays are a sad time for some folks so lets keep them in our prayers and in our thoughts. Lets all count our blessings and be merry and help one another.

I am looking forward to Christmas but I am already thinking about the new year and planning projects. Bobby says the first thing is that all the Christmas decorations have to be taken down and put back in storage and the house gets a good cleaning.

When the new year gets here I am sure I will be starting a quilt or two. Before long we will all be looking forward to springtime and warmer weather and then everybody will be thinking about working in their yards and gardens.

I have to get busy I have got a lot to do, I am making cookies and candy for some friends and then I will start my own baking. Now, that sounds like fun? Well it is to me, I will get my Christmas music going and put firewood in the old wood heating stove and I will get busy in the kitchen.

I am not going to worry about tomorrow and I am going to take one day at a time because God still has it all under control and He is the light at the end of the tunnel.

Merry Christmas and God bless,

Evelyn “E.T.” Trevathan
