Charles Talley

Charles Thomas Talley, born November 11, 1942, passed away on December 30, 2022, at the age of 80. He was born in Hohenwald to Samuel "Claggett" Talley and Helen Casteel Talley. He was married to Joan Talley.

Charles was one of ten children who graduated from Lewis County High. He said he had to leave after school and moved to North Little Rock to find work. He met and married his wife, Joan. After four years of marriage, he was drafted and did basic training at Fort Campbell. He then went to training at Fort Sill, Oklahoma, and then to Pleiku, Vietnam for one year. He returned to Hohenwald for work at Genesco, Hensley's Cycle Center, Dana Corporation, and the Lewis County Government. He was a County Commissioner for 28 years while raising his two sons, Eric and Adam. After retirement, he enjoyed chasing after his three grandchildren, traveling, and fishing at the lake.

Mr. Talley was preceded in death by sisters, Marguerite Bullion and Wanda Epley; brothers, Dwayne Talley and Don Talley.

He is survived by his wife, Joan Talley; sisters, Marian (Jim) Sloan, Brenda Helentjaris, Peggy (Billy) Potts, and Carmie (Jerry) Floyd; brother, Fred (Karen) Talley; sons, Eric (Dawn) Talley and Adam Talley; daughter of the heart, Joyce Richardson; grandchildren, Franki DeBernardis Talley (Michael Garcia), Harli Talley and Ryder (Tori) Talley. He also had many nieces and nephews and loved every one of them.

Visitation with the family was held in the chapel of McDonald Funeral Home on Tuesday, January 3 from 4:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Visitation and funeral services was held at the Blondy Church of God on Wednesday, January 4. Visitation was from 11:00 a.m. until service time at 2:00 p.m. Military honors and burial followed in the Talley Cemetery.
