LCMS Basketball action

The Lewis County Middle School Lady Panthers and Panthers traveled to Waynesboro to face off with the Wayne County Lady Wildcats and Wildcats on Tuesday, December 13th.

Lewis County jumped in front in the early part of the first quarter, going up 5-1 early. Wayne County went on a 16-0 run to close out the first and held a 17-5 lead. The Lady Wildcats continued to add to their lead in the second quarter, outscoring the Lady Panthers 9-4 and taking a 25-9 lead at the half. The second half saw a much more consistent offense from the Lady Panthers, but Wayne County would pull away throughout the half and handed Lewis County a 49-26 loss on the road. B.B. Smith had 14 points in the loss, Jazzy Conner added 8 points, and Jaelin Baugh had 4.

The Panthers and Wildcats matchup proved to be a tough and physical pairing throughout the second game of the evening. The Wildcats scored the first 8 points of the game, and the Panthers went on a 6-0 run before the Wildcats took a 10-6 lead at the end of the first. The Wildcats continued to pressure the Panthers throughout the second quarter, building up a 19-11 lead at the half. Maddox Tanner, with 5 points, led the Panther charge back into the game in the third and saw the Wildcat lead shrink to 24-20 as the game moved into the fourth quarter. Lewis County opened the fourth with a 7-0 run behind 6 more from Tanner and took a 27-24 lead. Wayne County would counter and tie, but the Panthers pulled out a 33-32 win on the road. Maddox Tanner led with 14 points on the night, Dakota Hull added 10, Bo Banks had 7, and Phenix McDonald had 2.

The LCMS Lady Panthers and Panthers hosted the Fairview Lady Falcons and Falcons on Friday, December 16th.

The Lady Panthers pulled out in front of the Lady Falcons early in the first. B.B. Smith dropped 6 of Lewis County's 8 first quarter points as the Lady Panthers took an 8-2 lead at the end of the period. Lewis County would shut out the visitors in the second quarter and jumped on the Lady Falcons, taking a 26-2 lead into the locker room at the half. The teams played a tighter third quarter as Lewis County outscored Fairview 10-8 in the period and commanded a 36-10 lead moving into the final six minutes of regulation. In the fourth quarter Fairview held Lewis County in check, but the Lady Panthers took a 38-14 final. B.B. Smith had 20 points in the win, Jazzy Conner 10, Haylee Carroll 4, and Paisley Kellogg and Jaelin Baugh each had 2,

The Panthers and Falcons played a tight opening quarter, as the Panthers took an 11-9 lead after the first quarter. A 6-0 run to start the second gave Lewis County an 8-point lead, and they held Fairview to 2 points in the period to hold a 24-11 lead at halftime. Lewis County continued to pull away in the third quarter, outscoring the visitors 18-2 in the quarter to control the game 42-13 moving on to the fourth. The Panthers cruised to a 52-17 win at home. Bo Banks led the Panthers with 14 points in the win, Phenix McDonald and Dakota Hull each added 10, Kobe Feichtinger had 8, Brodie Unger 4, and Brogan Arledge and Carson Stewart each had 2.
