One Day at a Time

Well it is a cool, cloudy and quiet morning here in our little valley. The cats were really hungry this morning and have eaten and now are back on their beds, they know rain is on the way.
Bob is washing dishes and I am having my second cup of coffee. The house is warm and we have a small fire in the old wood heating stove.
I have had my talk with Jesus and it sure is a peaceful morning.
It has been another busy week, we got some more cleaning done. I did take time to work a little more on my quilt, I have just about got the top finished, then I can start quilting it, some of you probably know what that means. I do not put it in a quilting frame, I quilt it in my lap. Not many people hand quilt anymore, I do not have a lot of time during the day to quilt but I love to sew in the evenings.
We were out running errands a few days ago and over around Gordonsburg we saw a bunch of turkeys, I have never seen so many in one place and down the road we saw a lot of deer. We are trying not to get out as much now, when we do have to get out, we try to get as much done as we can while we are out, we save a lot of time and gas that way.
While we are out we like to sight see and see what has changed. I go and get my groceries and do everything I need to do while we are out.
They are still talking about everything going up, especially groceries and gas, this year it may get a little rough. But God still has it all under control. I think over the last couple of years we have all learned to cut back and we had to be more careful in what we do.
Just like running errands, I have learned to do everything I can while I am out that way I just have to make one trip.
Today we are having a big pot of homemade vegetable soup and a big pan of good crunchy brown cornbread and some sweet iced tea. My grandkids call my sweet tea, MaEvelyn’s good sweet tea, when they come for a visit, I have to make sure I have some good sweet tea. I am also making a pan of banana nut bread for dessert. Hey are you all hungry yet?
I have got a busy day planned, I want to get the floors vacuumed and do some more early spring or late winter cleaning. Then maybe I can sew a little.
I just heard the old John Deere tractor, our neighbor is hauling a few bales of his hay to the barn to feed his cows before it rains again. A farmers work is never done.
I am going to enjoy this day and I am not going to worry about tomorrow and I am going to take one day at a time because God still has it all under control and He is the light at the end of the tunnel.
God bless
