Serving Hohenwald, Lewis County Tennessee Since 1898
The State of Tennessee recently awarded Lewis County Government a $957,850 "Evidence Based Programming" grant, which is designed to help reduce recidivism and increase the likelihood of an inmate's success following their release from incarceration.
The grant was successfully written by Captain Christie Moore of the Lewis County Jail, and is 100% fully-funded by the Office of Criminal Justice Programs, thus requiring no match of local tax dollars.
According to Sheriff Dwayne Kilpatrick, this grant money will be used to implement new programs at the Lewis County Jail that focuses on education, vocational training, mental health, substance abuse rehabilitation, and building healthy relationships.
