Lewis and Clark Map Exhibit opens Sunday with ribbon cutting

A ribbon cutting ceremony will be held Sunday, March 26 at 2 p.m. to celebrate the grand opening of "Reimagining America: The Maps of Lewis and Clark," a traveling exhibit which will be on display at the Hohenwald Depot March 26 through May 6, 2023. Hohenwald has the distinction of being the only location east of the Mississippi River to host this exhibit.

"Reimagining America" will be open to the public during the Grand Opening from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. The exhibit may be viewed Mondays through Saturdays, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Lewis County Museum Depot.  There is no fee to view the exhibit.  A small admission will be charged for those wishing to tour the Lewis County Museum of Local and Natural History, which houses the fourth largest mounted animal collection in North America.  To learn more about the museum, visit http://www.lewiscountymuseum.com.

"Reimagining America: The Maps of Lewis and Clark" is hosted by the Lewis County Historical Society, the Meriwether Lewis Chapter of the Southeast Region LCTHF, the Lewis County Public Library and Archives, and the Friends of the Library.  This exhibit is funded locally in part by a grant from Humanities Tennessee, an independent affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities.  Additional funding has been provided by Summertown Metals, Peoples Bank, Keith Vanstone, Hohenwald Mayor Danny McKnight, and Janet Turner.

"Reimagining America" was created by the national nonprofit Lewis and Clark Trail Heritage Foundation (LCTHF) to increase awareness of the story of the nation's geographic understanding of itself and the different cultural viewpoints and strategies that enabled Lewis and Clark to map and share their data. Find out more about the organization and how to join at http://www.lewisandclark.org.
