Lewis County Republicans meet

The Lewis County Republican Party held their regular monthly meeting at the County Commission Chamber at the Lewis County Courthouse on April 4th, 2023. Cody Mitchell called the meeting to order, and Jerry McDonald gave the invocation. Steve Keeton led the Pledge of Allegiance.

Chairman Mitchell gave a brief community update regarding city elections, recent news on the state level regarding the Covenant School shooting, the ongoing controversy in the Tennessee House of Representatives, and introduced Robby Starbuck, April’s guest speaker.

Mr. Starbuck is a Cuban-American filmmaker, political activist and writer. He is a former Tennessee 5th Congressional District Candidate endorsed by Candace Owens, Rand Paul and many others. Robby left the mainstream entertainment industry years before his run after directing Oscar winning actors/actresses and some of the biggest music stars in the world in order to stand up for his conservative values.

Mr. Starbuck spoke to the group about his recent work with conservative media personality Matt Walsh and others regarding the recent revelation by conservative media outlets about Vanderbilt University Medical Center using irreversible and harmful puberty blockers, cross sex hormones, and surgeries on healthy children in Nashville, and the continued cultural issues associated with the LGBTQ movement and transgender issues coming quickly to Tennessee. Mr. Starbuck also discussed the latest marketing push from big brands such as Bud Light to push the LGBTQ agenda on Americans.

Mr. Starbuck expressed his doubts in the Republican National Committee’s ability to win future elections even while being a guest speaker at a local chapter of the GOP, and he closed his remarks with a call to remind the group on the importance of grassroots organization and activism on the local level, registering people to vote, encouraging current voters to actually vote, and “playing offense” against the Democrats. He then fielded several questions from the group on a range of topics.

Rick Williams, Field Representative for Congressman Andy Ogles was also in attendance and thanked the group for their continued support of the Congressman.

The organization invites and encourages the public to attend the monthly meetings, the next being Monday, May 8, at 6:00 p.m. in the Lewis County Courthouse Old Courtroom.
