Lady Panthers Softball

The Lady Panthers hosted the Culleoka Lady Warriors on Monday, March 27th at LCHS.

Addie Morgan took the mound to start for Lewis County and worked around a single for a scoreless first, and the Lady Panthers were kept off the board in the bottom half. Morgan was perfect in the second, and the Lady Panthers went down again in the bottom and the game was scoreless through two. The two teams remained scoreless until one down in the bottom of the fourth when the Lady Panthers got a single from Faith Wishaw and C.J. Tanner reached on an error. Morgan drew a walk to load the bases before a two-run double by Sophie Stutts gave the Lady Panthers a 2-0 lead. With two down in the top of the fifth the Lady Warriors finally got to Morgan. Morgan retired the first two in the inning before a hit batter and a walk put two on. Kerrigan Reeves came on in relief and was greeted with a three-run homer to left gave the Lady Warriors a 3-2 lead. Kinlee Keltner led off the home fifth stroking a solo homer to left, and Lewis County got three straight one-out walks to Keira Halbrooks, C.J. Tanner, and Bria Willcutt to load the bases and a walk to Olivia Smith and single by Gabii Ortiz to plate three and give Lewis County a 6-3 lead. Reeves would keep the Lady Warriors off the board over the final six outs of the game and the Lady Panthers took a 6-3 win.

Addie Morgan went four and two-thirds innings while giving up 2 runs on 2 hits, walking 3 and striking out 3. Kerrigan Reeves went two and a third, allowed 1 run on 1 hit while walking 2 and striking out 1. Kinlee Keltner had a double and a homerun, scored a run and drove in a run, Sophie Stutts had a double and 2 RBI, Faith Wishaw a hit and a run, C.J. Tanner 2 runs, Bria Willcutt a run scored, and Olivia Smith an RBI. The Lady Panthers hosted the Giles County Lady Bobcats on Thursday, March 30th.

The Lady Bobcats jumped on the Lady Panthers in the first inning with three-straight singles off of Lewis County starter Addie Morgan and scored four runs in the top of the first. Gabii Ortiz led off the home half with a double but was left aboard. Morgan gave up three in the second as Giles County benefitted from a walk and three hits with one down as the Lady Bobcats took a 7-0 lead and the Lady Panthers were held scoreless through two. Morgan hit the leadoff in the third, and she came around to score on consecutive hits to add to the Giles County lead and the Lady Panthers were blanked again in the home third. Morgan kept Giles County off the board in the fourth, and Lewis County went down in order when they batted in the inning. Morgan pitched a perfect fifth, and the Lady Panthers were unable to build on a one-out Ortiz single and Giles County held a 9-0 lead through five. Morgan worked out of a bases-loaded jam in the sixth to fend of the Lady Bobcats, but a double play after singles by Bria Willcutt and Addie Morgan kept the Lady Panthers scoreless. An error got things started for Giles County in the seventh, and the Lady Bobcats would come three hits to plate three more runs. Lewis County was shut out in their final opportunity and lost to Giles County 13-0.

Addie Morgan went the distance in the loss, 7 innings while giving up 13 runs (8 earned) on 14 hits while walking 2 and striking out 1. Gabii Ortiz had 2 hits with a double, and Kinlee Keltner, Addie Morgan, Sophie Stutts, and Bria Willcutt each had a hit.
