Serving Hohenwald, Lewis County Tennessee Since 1898
CAITLYN CLARK
The story of
Lewis and Clark
did not begin or
end with the expedition.
Meriwether
Lewis and
William Clark
knew each other
for years before
their historic voyage
of discovery.
Though Louisville,
Kentucky, is
often recognized
as the starting
point of the Lewis
and Clark expedition,
few people
know where they
met for the fi rst
time - Greenville,
Ohio. Author and
historian Caitlyn
Clark will be at the Lewis County
Public Library and Archives
on Saturday, April 29 at 1 p.m.
to discuss their friendship and
their expedition’s connection to
Greenville, Ohio.
In her presentation, Ms. Clark
will explore how Lewis and
Clark’s shared experiences in
Greenville not only aided them
during their famous cross-country
expedition, but also provided
them with the ability to navigate
the muddy waters of frontier
politics throughout their subsequent
tenures in a government
offi ce. Copies of her newly
published book,
From the Treaty
City to the Western
Sea: Lewis
and Clark in
Greenville, Ohio
will be available
for purchase and
signing.
This lecture
is being held in
conjunction with
“Reimagining
America: The
Maps of Lewis
and Clark” a
traveling exhibit
produced by the
Lewis and Clark
Trail Heritage
Foundation on
display at the
historic Hohenwald
Depot now through May
6. “Reimagining America” is
hosted by the Lewis County Historical
Society, the Meriwether
Lewis Chapter of the Lewis and
Clark Trail Heritage Foundation,
and the Friends of the Lewis
County Public Library and
Archives.
