The LCHS tennis squads hosted a match with the East Hickman Lady Eagles and Eagles on Thursday, April 13th at LCHS.
In girls’ singles Lewis County had Ruth Jennings as the number one seed facing the Lady Eagle number one seed in the opening match. Jennings fell behind midway through the match and took the loss in an 8-3 final. Brooke Mason played in the two-seed pairing and fell back late in the match to drop the final 8-4. Trinly Greene faced off with the number three seed from East Hickman and was unable to break service as she took the loss 8-1. In the matchup of number four seed Lewis County’s Mary Halfacre fell in a close 8-6 final. In the first doubles match on the girls’ side Lewis County pairing of Ruth Jennings and Brook Mason fell 8-3. Mary Halfacre and Persia Snow paired up in the second girls’ doubles match against the number two East Hickman team. In a very tight match East Hickman pulled out the win 8-6.
The Lady Panthers finished 0-4 in singles play and 0-2 in doubles action.
Bryson Clayburn, the number one seed for the Panthers, took the court against the Eagle’s number one seed. Clayburn dominated his match and came away with an 8-0 win. Ethan Powers was the number two for Lewis County and, like Clayburn, controlled the match and took an 8-0 win. Clayburn and Powers combined for the lone doubles match on the boys side and came away with an 8-0 win.
The Panthers finished the day 2-0 in singles and 1-0 in doubles.
