The Lewis County Middle School Panthers traveled to Mount Pleasant on Monday, April 10th for afternoon baseball against the Tigers.
Lewis County would get on the board first after a one-out walk to Maddox Tanner and a single from Dakota Hull set up a two-out, two-run double by D.J. Stewart that gave the Panthers an early 2-0 lead. Dakota Hull took the mound to start for the Panthers and worked around a two-out walk for a scoreless first. The score would hold until the home-half of the third inning when Hull issued a pair of two-out walks and the Tigers would push a run across on a single to make it a 2-1 game. The Panthers went down in order in the fourth and the Tiger offense would get to Hull in the bottom of the inning. Using three walks, a single, and a hit batter, the Tigers would plate four to pull out to a 5-2 lead moving into the fifth. Both teams went down in order in the fifth. Hull led off the sixth with a single and Camlyn Owen walked, and both would come in to score on a single by Brodie Unger to make it 5-4, but the Panthers couldn’t find the equalizer and fell on the road in a 5-4 final.

Stewart plated two on a double, and after Camlyn Owen was hit by a pitch, Eli Chapin and Jaxon Long each drove in a run to give the Panthers a 4-0 lead. Eli Chapin took the mound to start for the Panthers and worked out of a jam in the first to keep the Yellow Jackets off the board. Brodie Unger led off the second with a single and would come around to score on a sacrifice fly by Hull to make it 5-0. Chapin ran into more trouble in the home third as Fairview would chase him from the mound after seven straight and the Yellow Jackets scored four without an out. Maddox Tanner came on in relief and would get out of the inning, but not before Fairview had taken a 10-9 lead. Both teams were held scoreless in the fourth. Hull doubled and D.J. Stewart singled with one down, and both would score on a misplayed ball off the bat of Chapin to put the Panthers up 11-10 in the fifth. The Panthers would start something in the sixth as Rylan Hamm reached on an error and McDonald singled, but three straight strikeouts ended the Panther threat. Fairview would tie the game with a run off of Tanner in the bottom of the sixth and the game entered the last inning equal at 11.
