The Lewis County High School Panthers traveled to Mt. Pleasant for a district matchup with the Mt. Pleasant Tigers on Monday, April 10.
Bentley Kelsey led the game off ripping a single to centerfield and Brayden Whitlow followed with a walk as Lewis County started the game off hot. A single by Brycen McDonald and an Ethan Ray single would plat two, and the Panthers would add another and take an early 3-0 lead. McDonald drew the start for Lewis County and worked around a single for a scoreless first. Whitlow and Sloan Moseley each singled in the second ahead of a two-run double by McDonald and the Panthers went up 5-0. Mcdonald again worked around a single in the second for another scoreless inning. Lewis County would add to their lead in the third. Ehan Ray led off with a single and was followed by a walk to Hayden Jackson and Braylon Bean being hit by a pitch to load the bases. Steele Moseley singled to left to score two, and Sloan Moseley brought in two more with a two-out triple to stake the Panthers to a 9-0 lead. McDonald continued to dominate Tiger hitters in a scoreless third. It would be the top of the fifth before the score would change, as Bentley Kelsey reached after being hit by a pitch and came around to score on Sloan Moseley’s second triple of the day. Lincoln Brewer would drive in Moseley with a double and the Panthers took a 12-0 lead. The Tigers would break through in the fifth. Steele Moseley, who came in for McDonald in the fourth, and Ethan Ray shared duties on the mound in a 4-run Mt. Pleasant inning. Lewis County would load the bases in the sixth with singles from Jackson and Steele Moseley and a walk to Kelsey. The panthers plated two in the inning and took a 14-4 lead. Ethan Ray ended the game in the sixth as he retired the Tigers in order and the Panthers took the 14-4 win.
Sloan Moseley had 3 hits, 2 triples, 2 runs, and 4 RBI, Brycen McDonald 2 hits, a double, 2 runs, and 3 RBI, Ethan Ray 2 hits, a run, and an RBI, Steele Moseley 2 hits, 2 runs, and 2 RBI, Brayden Whitlow a hit and 2 runs, Lincoln Brewer a double and 2 RBI, and Hayden Jackson a hit. Brycen McDonald went 3 innings for the win, allowed no runs and 2 hits while striking out 5. Steele Moseley went 1 1/3 innings, allowed 4 runs on 5 hits, and Ethan Ray went 1 2/3 innings allowing no runs with a walk and 2 strikeouts.
The LCHS Panthers hosted the Mt. Pleasant Tigers on Tuesday, April 11 for a district rematch.
Bentley Kelsey took the start for the Panthers and worked a perfect first. Kelsey was hit by a pitch to lead off the home half of the first and Brayden Whitlow singled behind him. Kelsey scored on a fielder’s choice by Sloan Moseley and consecutive doubles by Brycen McDonald and Lincoln Brewer added two, and a two-out single from Hayden Jackson added another and the Panthers jumped out to a 4-0 lead. A single and an error would position the Tigers for their first run in the second and cut the Panther lead to 4-1The Panthers countered in the bottom of the second as McDonald lifted a one-out sacrifice fly to bring home Steele Moseley and the Panthers made it a 5-1 game. The Tigers rode four singles and three Panther miscues to tie the game at 5-5 when the top of the third came to an end. Lewis County was kept off the board for the first time in the bottom of the third. Kelsey and the Panther defense got back on track in the fourth as the Tigers went down in order, and the Panthers would climb back on top when they came in to hit when McDonald sent a 3-2 pitch into the Lewis County night over the left field fence to make it a 6-5 game. Kelsey was on point in the fifth, retiring Mt. Pleasant in order, and the Panthers did the same in the bottom of the inning. Whitlow took the mound in relief in the sixth and was perfect. Steele Moseley was hit by a pitch to start the bottom of the sixth and came across on a two-run triple by Sloan Moseley after a Whitlow double. The Panther would add three in the inning and took a 9-5 lead into the Tiger’s final at-bat. Whitlow worked out of a bases-loaded situation for a scoreless seventh to seal the win 9-5.
Brycen Clayburn had 2 hits, a double and a homerun, 2 runs, and 4 RBI, Brayden Whitlow 2 hits, a double, and a run, Hayden Jackson 2 hits and an RBI, Sloan Moseley a triple, 2 runs, and 3 RBI, Bentley Kelsey a double and 2 runs, Lincoln Brewer a double and an RBI, and Ethan Ray scored a run. Kelsey went 5 innings and gave up 5 runs (1 earned) on 5 hits while striking out 6 for the , and Brayden Whitlow went 2 innings in relief and allowed no runs on no hits, striking out 4 and walking 1.
The LCHS Panther baseball team traveled to Fairview for an evening game against the Fairview Yellow Jackets on Thursday, April 13.
The Panthers were held scoreless in the first as Brayden Whitlow was left stranded in scoring position after a one-out double. Hayden Jackson drew the start for the Panthers and pitched a scoreless first. Lewis County left a runner in scoring position again in the second as Jackson reached on a two out double but was left there as the inning came to an end. Jackson pitched into and out of a jam in the bottom half with a bases loaded strikeout to end the Yellow Jacket threat. After both teams went down in order in the third, the Panthers broke through in the fourth. Lincoln Brewer walked and Ethan Ray singled with two down in the inning. Brewer would score on a wild pitch and Ray would come home on a single by Braylon Bean as the Panthers took a 2-0 lead. Jackson would find trouble with two outs in the home half, but a big throw from Brewer to cut down a runner at the plate to end the inning preserved Jackson’s shutout. Both teams were kept off the board in a scoreless fifth. Ray singled with one down in the sixth and scored on a double by Jackson to give the Panthers a 3-0 lead. Jackson’s shutout ended in the bottom of the sixth with a leadoff homerun and the Panther lead was cut to 3-1. Lewis County answered in the seventh as Bentley Kelsey and Whitlow each walked ahead of a three-run blast off the bat of Sloan Moseley that made it a 6-1 lead. Jackson would exit with two aboard in the bottom of the seventh and Ethan Ray took the mound. Ray would limit the damage and allow only one runner to score as Lewis County took the win 6-2.
Sloan Moseley had 2 hits, a homerun, a run, and 3 RBI, Ethan Ray had 2 hits and 2 runs, Hayden Jackson 2 doubles and 2 RBI, Brayden Whitlow a double and a run, Braylon Bean a hit and an RBI, and Bentley Kelsey and Lincoln Brewer each had a run scored. Jackson went 6 1/3 innings and allowed 2 runs (1 earned) on 8 hits, walking 2 and striking out 4. Ethan Ray went 2/3 of an inning and struck out 1.
The Lewis County Panthers traveled to Dickson to open play in the tournament against the Dickson County Cougars on Friday, April 14th.
The Panthers were held scoreless to start the game, and Steele Moseley took the mains to start. The Cougars got the lead off aboard on a single and scored the game’s first run on a wild pitch to take a 1-0 lead. The Panthers were unable to answer in the top of the second, and the Cougars used a single to set up another score to take a 2-0 lead. After the Panthers were retired in order in the third the Cougars opened up their lead in the home half. Dickson County plated five runs in the third as the Panther defense struggled and the Cougars took a 7-0 lead into the fourth. Brycen McDonald provided some power to get the Panthers on the scoreboard, driving a solo home run to left to make it a 7-1 game. After Cayleb Moore came on to pitch and held the Cougars scoreless, them Panthers came up in the fifth trying to cut into the Dickson County lead. Bentley Kelsey singled with two outs and came around to score on a Sloan Moseley single to make the score 7-2. Dickson County responded within four runs in the bottom of the fifth to pull out to an 11-2 lead. After both teams were held in check in the sixth, the Panthers were down to their final three outs. Steele Moseley was hit by a pitch to start the seventh and scored on a two-out double by Sloan Moseley, the last run of the evening, and the Panthers took the loss 11-3.

Steele Moseley went 3 innings allowing 7 runs (2 earned) on 4 hits while walking 4. Cayleb Moore 3 innings allowing 4 runs (3 earned) on 4 hits, walking 4 and striking out 2.
The LCHS Panthers continued play in the Dickson tournament on Saturday, April 15 as they matched up with the Milan Bulldogs.
A pair of first inning doubles from Brayden Whitlow and Brycen McDonald put the Panthers up 1-0 after a half inning. McDonald was the starting pitcher for the Panthers and the Bulldogs tied the game with a walk, a single, and a hit batter. The Bulldogs would add to their lead in the second, stringing together a pair of walks and a pair of hits to score three to go up 4-1. McDonald reached on a two- out triple and crossed the plate on a single by Lincoln Brewer to make the score 4-2. After two quick outs in the bottom of the third the Bulldogs scored a run with three straight singles to take a 5-2 lead. After holding the Panthers scoreless in the fourth the Bulldogs got three consecutive base runners off Lewis County’s Jalen Smith and added a run to make it a 6-2. Sloan Moseley singled to open the fifth, and scored on a two-out error on a ball hit by Ethan Ray. A single by Hayden Jackson and a triple by Braylon Bean would chase home two more runs and the Panthers tightened the game at 6-5. The Bulldogs went scoreless in the home fifth as did the Panthers in the sixth. Four baserunners and 3 runs would chase Smith from the game, and Keegan Carroll-Clayton came on with two down and got the Panthers out of the sixth, but not before the Bulldogs had built a 10-5 lead. Lewis County was quiet in their final at bat and took the loss 10-5.

Bentley Kelsey a hit. McDonald went 3 innings and allowed 5 runs (3 earned) on 6 hits, struck out 2 and walked 2. Jalen Smith went 2 1/3 innings and allowed 5 runs (1 earned) on 2 hits, walking 4 and striking out 1. Keegan Carroll-Clayton went 2/3 of an inning and had a strikeout.
In their final game of the Dickson tournament, the LCHS had a rematch with the Dickson County Cougars on Saturday night, April 15.
