The Lewis County Middle School Lady Panthers travelled to Linden to take on the Perry County Lady Vikings on Monday, April 10.
Taya Tiller, Makaela Dodson, and Jaelin Baugh reached to start the first and all three would score in the inning as the Lady Panthers staked a 3-0 lead early. Brailey Carroll took the mound to start and pitched a scoreless first. Brooklyn Crowell started the second with a single and scored on a triple by Tiller. Dodson followed with a triple and later scored as Lewis County doubled their lead to 6-0. Carroll was perfect in the second, and the lady Panthers were held in check in the visitors third. Carroll worked around a pair of baserunners in the bottom of the third to keep the Lady Vikings off the board. Tiller’s second triple of the game started the fourth, and she came in to score on a double by Dodson. Lewis County would put three on the board in the fourth and take a 9-0 lead, and Carroll set down the home team in order in the bottom half. Lewis County would put the game away in the fifth when Crowell led off with a double and scored on a double by Tiller, who was followed by hits from Dodson, Baugh, Carroll, and Julie Roden as the Lady Panthers plated 5 runs to pull away to a 14-0 lead. Carroll was perfect in the home fifth to end the game as Lewis County took a 14-0 win.
Brailey Carroll went 5 innings, allowed no runs on three hits while walking none and striking out 6. Taya Tiller had 4 hits, a double and 2 triples, and 4 runs, Makaela Dodson 4 hits, 2 doubles and a triple, and 4 runs, Brailey Carroll 2 hits, a double, and a run, Brooklyn Crowell 2 hits, a double, and 2 runs, Jaelin Baugh a hit and 3 runs scored, Julie Roden a double, Kabry Adkins a double, and Lyric Inman a single.
The LCMS Lady panthers hosted the Summertown Lady Eagles on Thursday, April 13th.
Julie Roden took the mound to start for Lewis County pitched a scoreless first. Back-to-back singles by Taya Tiller and Makaela Dodson started the first for the Lady panthers, and both would score to give Lewis County a 2-0 lead. Roden Took down the Summertown batters in order in the second, and the Lady Panthers would add to their lead in the home half. A one-out walk to Kabry Adkins started things off, and three straight two-out hits by Tiller, Dodson, and Jaelin Baugh plated three as Lewis County built a 5-0 lead. After Roden retired the first two batters in the third, Summertown would string together seven-straight hits and score 6 to chase Roden from the game. Brailey Carroll entered and surrendered a run-scoring hit before closing out the inning and Summertown took a 7-5 lead. A one-out hit by Roden in the third and a pair of two-out walks would load the bases for Tiller, who delivered a two-run double to tie the game at 7-7. Carroll was perfect in the fourth, and Lewis County was held scoreless in their half to keep the score tied. Carroll worked around a leadoff walk in the visitor fifth, and the Lady Panthers would reclaim the lead in the home half. Tiller singled with two-outs and Dodson walked ahead of a run-scoring single by Baugh. Brookly Crowell was hit by a pitch with bases loaded and the Lady Panthers took a 9-7 lead. Three straight one-out singles and a pair of two-out hits would plate 4 for Summertown in the sixth as they took an 11-9 lead, and the Lady Panthers failed to get a baserunner in the bottom half and trailed by two moving to the final inning. A walk, a single, a double, and a triple would bring home 3 runs for Summertown as they extended their lead to 13-9 as the Lady panthers came in for their final at-bat. Tiller, Dodson, Baugh, and Carroll would hit consecutive singles to start the seventh and pull to within two, but Lewis County faltered late and took the loss 14-12.
Taya Tiller had 5 hits on the day with a double and scored 4 runs, Makaela Dodson had 3 hits and 4 runs, Jaelin Baugh 3 hits and a run, Brailey Carroll 3 hits with a double, Julie Roden had a hit and a run, and Kabry Adkins 2 runs.
