Excellence in Education banquet

On May 8, 2023 Lewis County Schools hosted their first Excellence in Education Banquet at Camryn’s Place. It was an honor to recognize building level teachers of the year, academic excellence for scoring 31 or higher on the ACT, recognizing community and industry partners for being a huge part of Work Ethics Wednesdays at LCHS and communicating the importance of work ethics matter, and 31 seniors who earned the Work Ethic Distinction/Tri-Star Scholar.

Those recognized were Krista Hinson, Lewis County Elementary School Teacher of the Year; Becky Stewart, Lewis County Intermediate School Teacher of the Year; Brook Clayton, Lewis County Middle School Teacher of the Year; and Jacob Collier, Lewis County High School Teacher of the Year.

Paige Roberson, LCHS Senior, was awarded the Director’s Award for Academic Excellence for scoring 31 or higher on the ACT.

Community and industry partners in attendance were recognized as well: Debbie Landers, Chamber of Commerce; Barbara Hinson, Education Foundation; Macy Hobbs, Mid-South Barndominiums; Matthew Adkins, HR Agripower; Paul Cameron, Oliver Technologies; Matt Stoll, Summertown Metals; and Kevin Feichtinger, Highland Oil. Matt Stoll with Summertown Metals shared his story as a child, work ethics, and how he got to be where he is today.

To end the night, $100 was given away and Kevin Moriarity, an LCHS Senior, won the money. Lewis County Schools is looking forward to hosting more of these type of recognition events in 23-24 and “Making Students Productive Tennesseans”.
