Serving Hohenwald, Lewis County Tennessee Since 1898
Meriwether Lewis Electric Cooperative recently installed electric vehicle charging stations on the South side of their office in downtown Hohenwald. According to the Department of Energy, tens of thousands of electric vehicle charging stations are available in the U.S. While most electric vehicle owners do the majority of their charging at home, these nationwide stations assist in public and workplace charging as a supplement.
If you were to charge your ev at home with a standard 120-volt wall outlet, it could take a day or more to charge. Stations like the one here, provide a full charge at much faster speeds. The exact amount of time depends on how big your car’s battery is and which type of EV charger is used. While you can “fast-charge” in approximately eight hours, it is advised not to do so, as frequent fast charging can degrade your battery over time.
The average cost of charging an EV is around $30-$40 at 40-70 cents per kilowatt-hour.
