The Lewis County High School Class of 1963 met for its 60 year reunion June 3 at Bethel Chapel and Venue in the Farmers Exchange community. Twenty-four former class members and many visitors and their only surviving teacher, Betty Cobble Nutt, attended and enjoyed the beautiful venue and getting caught up on lots of memories over the years. A wonderful buffet was prepared by Judy Schwendimann McClearen, widow of the class president, Don Schwendimann. She was assisted by Gay Hinson, Jane Carr and Judy Orman.
Larry Butch and JoAnn Lawson provided pictures of 29 deceased class members and a memorial to each one was presented and afterward a moment of silence. The class has lost so many, and just the week before the reunion, had to say goodbye to Boyce Sims who passed away May 26.
Those attending from out of town were: George 'G.W.' Stephens and Jane Carr of Clarksville; Elizabeth Stayrook Depriest and husband, Jack Rich, from Loelville; Larry and Betty Couch Harris of Alabaster, Alabama; Nell Caldwell Jones and daughter Michelle of Fayetteville; Janis Davis Snell of Eagleville; Margaret Reeves Stowe of Lexington; Lydia Armstrong Hinson and Jonnie Armstrong Tharp of Spring Hill; Judith Galloway Pitts and husband, Bob; Robert Griner of Decatur, Alabama; and Paula Curry Williams of Dickson.
Those from Hohenwald were Nancy Brackeen Tucker, Chuck and Glenda Floyd Stowe, Jean Ellen Coop Zimmermann, Joye Wildman Talley, J.W. and Wilma Roth Churchwell, Dwight A. and Gay Hinson, Jane Williams Brewer and husband Butch, Paul and Pat Webb Gandy, Tom and Peggy Cook, Larry and JoAnn Coble Lawson, Janie Nutt Barber, and Joe and Edna Willams Garner.
