Henry County Man Charged With Domestic Assault

NANCE

Paris, TN - Court documents say a 911 call led to the arrest of a Henry County man who allegedly covered the victims mouth and struck her with a Bible.

According to police reports and court documents, on Tuesday, July 25, the Henry County Sheriff's Office responded to a 911 call in the Buchanan community.

Dispatchers reportedly could hear a woman asking for help.

Cody Nance, 35, has been charged with Domestic Assault, Aggravated Assault and Interference with Emergency Calls.

Documents and reports say that Nance pulled the victims hair and banged her head on the floor. Nance reportedly placed his hand over the victims mouth, which prevented her from breathing or to "yell" for help.

The documents also stated that Nance struck the victim with a Bible "saying the devil is the only one who could help her." The 911 dispatcher reportedly heard a woman crying and a male making remarks such as "ask the devil to help you."

Nance reportedly threw the victim's phone against the wall after she used it to call 911 the first time.

The victim said she found a second phone and activated the 'call 911' feature and left it laying.

Police said that when they spoke to Cody Nance, they smelled a strong odor of alchol on his breath.

At the time of this report, Nance was still in custody awaiting arraignment.
