Dennis James Wilbrett, 69, a man of passion, love, and thoughtfulness, was born on April 16, 1954, in Detroit, Michigan, and passed away peacefully on August 8, 2023, in Hohenwald. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, whose memory will continue to inspire and guide his family.
Dennis was a devoted husband to Cindy Wilbrett, whom he married on April 30, 1984. Their union was one of deep love, mutual respect, and shared interests, setting an example for their children and grandchildren. He was a loving father to Tracy (Steve) Raines, Theresa Wasnick, Heather (Ryan) Pace, Becky Wilbrett, and Angel (Ed) Carter, who will forever cherish his memory.
His spirit will live on through his grandchildren, Tyler Raines, Zach McGee, Michael Staab, Austin Brewer, DJ McGee, Samantha Mismas, Justin Durham, Trenton Pace, Jacob Wasnick, Joshua Wasnick and Bella Raines. Dennis was also a proud great-grandfather to Kenna McGee, Blakelyn Durham, Lincoln Raines, Solomon Staab, Victory Staab, Grayson Mismas, Abagail Staab, Chanley Durham, Aidin Durham, Ethan Staab, and Myles Mismas, who will remember him fondly. He was predeceased by his parents, Howard and Elsie Wilbrett.
Dennis had a strong work ethic, spending his professional life as a laborer, where he was respected and admired by his peers. He was passionate about his work, a trait that he passed down to his children and grandchildren. His commitment to his profession was an example of his determination and dedication.
Outside his professional life, Dennis was an active member of the National Rifle Association (NRA), showcasing his commitment to his interests and beliefs. His hobbies included collecting guns, motorcycles, and cars, each representing a different facet of his diverse interests. He was an enthusiastic collector, always eager to share his knowledge and passion with others.
His thoughtful nature and loving heart made him a pillar of strength for his loved ones. His life was a true testament of the values he held dear, and his memory will forever be engraved in the hearts of all who knew him.
Visitation with family and friends was held in the Chapel of Adair Funeral and Cremation Services on Saturday August 12, 2023. A celebration of life will take place at a later date.
