Champions Win Big at 2nd Annual Smokin' Up the City Cookoff

Nineteen teams competed in the Second Annual Smokin' Up The City Cookout  at the 2023 Citizens Bank Ag Day as part of the South Central Area Fair's Centennial Celebration held at Memorial Park. All arriving before 6 a.m., contestants, using only electric, charcoal, wood, or pellet cookers, competed as teams or individuals in the categories of Boston Butt, Chicken, Pork Ribs, Steak, and Side/Appetizer. Not only were they judged on taste, but also appearance, tenderness/- texture, taste, moisture, and overall flavor.

Steak Winners: 3rd, Swan Creek BBQ - Randall and Michelle Hinson, 2nd, Two Smokin' Dudes - Dale Hinson and John Jorgensen, 1st, Double T's BBQ - Caleb Thomas and David Thomas

Chicken Winners: 3rd, Circle C Smokin' - Dustin and Kaley Carroll, 2nd, Holy Smokers - Shane Luna and Albert Grigsby, 1st, Smoke Mates - Bobby and Mel Bean
