Michael Leonard Bates, 27, a loving and selfless soul, sadly passed away on August 18, 2023, in Nashville. Born on November 8, 1996, in Maury County, he grew to be a courageous and dedicated individual who touched the lives of many.

Michael was the beloved son of Kenneth Dale Bates/Denise Webb and Angela Hensley. He was a caring brother to Nicky Bates (Kayla) and Jackie Bates, and sisters Alexandra Calvert and Shelly Webb. A devoted husband to Kimberly Bates and a loving father to his precious daughter Stella Bates, he was also eagerly awaiting the birth of his second daughter, Bethany Ann Bates. He is also survived by his grandmother Patricia Middleton and sister-in-law Chasity Bates.

A proud graduate of Lewis County High School in 2015, Michael excelled in his studies, earning his diploma with honors. His academic prowess was matched only by his dedication to serving his community, which led him to a fulfilling career as a corporal at The Turney Center. His commitment to his work was evident in the respect and admiration he received from his colleagues and those he served.

Michael was a man of many interests, each reflecting his vibrant personality. He found joy in playing football, immersing himself in the camaraderie and competition that the sport offered. An avid gamer, he would often be found engrossed in video games, appreciating the stories and challenges they presented. His love for intricate strategy was also evident in his fondness for magic cards. A passionate fan of anime, he enjoyed the depth and creativity of the shows he watched.

Despite his many interests, Michael's greatest passion was undoubtedly his family. He was a constant source of support and love for his wife and daughters. His selfless nature shone brightest in his role as a father, always prioritizing his family's needs above his own. His love for his siblings was equally strong, as he often played the role of a protective older brother.

Those who knew Michael often described him as loving, selfless, and courageous. His loving nature was evidenced in the way he cared for those around him, always going the extra mile to ensure their happiness. Funeral services were held Wednesday, August 23, 2023, at Adair Funeral and Cremation Services in Hohenwald, with brother Mike Hinson officiating.
