First Grade Teacher

Series: Educator Of The Week | Story 3

Q.) How many years have you been in the education profession?

A.) This is my 32nd year in first grade!

Q.) What made you gravitate towards it?

A.) I began working at the school in the computer lab before I was a teacher. I enjoyed it so much that I realized this is what I was born to do.

Q.) What is the most rewarding part of your job as an educator?

A.) As a first grade teacher, so many things the students do and learn are firsts for them. School is still exciting for them and it is so fun to see their little eyes light up when they see, do, or learn something new!

Q.) Can you tell me a little about how being an educator has influenced you or what it has taught you over the years?

A.) It has taught me patience, that not everyone learns the same way, and to not sweat the small stuff because it all works out in the end.

Q.) What is your goal as a teacher at LCES this year?

A.) My goal is always the same: teach my students to the best of my ability and love them unconditionally.

Q.) A huge part of making a school function well is teamwork. Can you tell me a little about the team and staff working with you at LCES and how they make Lewis County a great place to learn?

A.) LCES is a great place to learn because everyone there has the same idea for success. We strive to not only educate our students, but to do everything in our power to help them thrive outside of school as well.
