One Day at a Time

Well it is a cool morning here in our little valley, it is very quiet and there is a little breeze blowing. I have got a little blanket over me while I am sitting out here on the swing and my cup of coffee sure is good.

It really feels like Fall, there are a few trees starting to show their Fall colors, it will not be long now until Fall is here.

The cats have had their breakfast and are now laying in the warm sunshine.

We still have some things to get done outside before the weather turns cold but not as much as we did.

I heard the neighbor’s old John Deere tractor and saw him and his boys hauling hay, they are stocking up for a long Winter, their cows eat good.

Fall is a busy time of year, everybody gets ready for Winter, some signs show we are going to have a hard Winter and some signs show a mild Winter, but we will only know for sure when it gets here.

I think we all need to get prepared because most Winters are cold, and last winter was really cold. Thanks to our daughter and son-in-law we have got a start on our firewood but we will need more, thanks Mark and Linda.

We were out running errands and we saw a lot of cornfields beginning to dry so it will not be long before the farmers start gathering their corn.

Fall begins this next week on Saturday, September the 23rd, Fall usually starts on September 22 or 23, but every once in a while it will start on September 21 or 24 but that is very rare.

We are hearing a lot of talk about the workers at the major car plants going on strike, that will hurt a lot of people’s income and it will effect a lot of other peoples jobs that supply those big car plants, maybe the strike will not last long.

I do not think people really know where their money goes, we all need to be careful with our spending, I sat down and made a list of some of the ways that I could save and I was surprised at how many little things I could do and I tried them and they do work and I found out that doing a few little things can make a big difference. Most of us seem to be in a big hurry and too busy to worry about some things, but you know it is often the little things that matter the most. With the economy as bad as it is we need to do what we can and we need to start now before it gets worse.

I have been getting my sewing items together. I have got a couple of baby quilts put together and ready to be quilted when the cold weather gets here, I will be ready to work and I am looking forward to it.

I have been thinking about the holidays, especially Christmas, I have got to give my house a good cleaning, I have already washed some quilts and some blankets, I like to do that before Winter gets here, during a cold Winter there is nothing better than a warm fresh quilt or blanket.

I think most of the hummingbirds are leaving, we are not seeing as many as we did, Bobby has feed them good this Summer.

Bob has got the breakfast dishes washed and the kitchen clean, and this week he swept the front porch and walk, so he does know how to use the broom, I am very proud of him.

I have a busy day ahead so I have got to get started. For lunch we are having pinto beans with brown cornbread and cabbage and fried potatoes and sweet iced tea. Ms. Pattie I know you always read the Lewis County Herald and we eat at 12.

I am not going to worry about tomorrow and I am going to take one day at a time because God still has it all under control and He is the light at the end of the tunnel.

God bless.
