The LCMS Panthers traveled to Parsons to face the Riverside Middle School Panthers on Thursday night, September 7.
Riverside jumped on top early, breaking free on a 56-yard run fifteen seconds after kickoff to take a 6-0 lead.
The Panthers responded moments later when quarterback Brody Clayton hit Gavin Coker for a 42-yard touchdown and connected with Anthony Garcia for the conversion to give Lewis County an 8-6 lead.
Riverside would answer with a 55-yard touchdown run and conversion on their next possession, and go on to find the endzone again late in the first to take a 22-8 lead at the end of the first quarter.
The score would hold through the entire second quarter, then in the third Riverside would add to their lead. Early in the period Riverside crossed midfield and capitalized by breaking free on a 21-yard run and converted on the two-point run to make it a 30-8 game.
Lewis County answered three minutes later when Clayton and Coker hooked up on a 42-yard pass for a touchdown and the two-point conversion to cut the Riverside lead to 30-16.
Riverside would cap the scoring just seconds into the fourth quarter on a 59-yard touchdown run that extended the lead to 36-16.
The score would hold and the Panthers took the loss on the road.
Brody Clayton was 9-16 passing for 119 yards and 2 touchdowns. Gavin Coker had 7 receptions for 109 yards and 2 scores, and Eli Chapin caught 2 passes for 10 yards. Coker had 6 carries for 4 yards on the ground, Brody Clayton 1 carry for 4 yards, Knox Rainey 2 carries for 1 yard, Eli Chapin 1 carry for 1 yard, and Garrett Reeves 1 carry for -4 yards.
