The Lewis County Panthers hosted the Harpeth Indians on Friday night, September 29, at Bobby W. Sharp Field in regional action.

Lewis County squandered a potential opening drive inside the Indian 25-yard line and came up empty, but after the teams exchanged possessions through the opening nine minutes the Panthers were able to open the scoring.

Micah Godfrey broke free on a 43-yard touchdown run to give the Panthers a 6-0 lead with just over two minutes to play in the first.

It would be midway through the second period before either team could mount a solid scoring drive, and it would be the visitors from Harpeth that would march deep into the Panther defensive side of the field and score on a 2-yard dive. After a successful point after kick the Indians would take a 7-6 lead into halftime.

The second half would belong to the Panthers. Lewis County would get two scores in the final four minutes of the third quarter as Brycen McDonald would hook up with Fletch Kelsey twice, the first a 78-yard pass for a touchdown and the second a 4-yard touchdown completion. Chaz Sparkman would haul in a two-point conversion pass on the second touchdown and the Panthers pulled out to a 20-7 lead as play moved into the fourth quarter.

Micah Godfrey would cap the scoring midway through the fourth, scampering 27-yards for the score to seal the Panther victory 26-7.

A dominant Panther defense limited the Indians to only 124 yards of total offense on the night and was led by Drew Ray who had 14 tackles and one for loss. Eli Carroll had 9 tackles with 1 for loss, Nathanial Caamal added 9 tackles, Noah Alkire 7 tackles, Kade Carroll 5 tackles, one for loss, and a quarterback sack, Kobe Feichtinger 5 tackles with one for loss, Dominic Seiber 4 tackles, Fletch Kelsey 3 tackles and an interception, Chaz Sparkman, Tim Brown, and Jaylen Murphy 3 tackles each, Brennan Davis 2 tackles, Logan Graves a tackle for loss, and Dakota Hull and Braylon Bean each had a tackle.

Brycen McDonald completed 10 of 21 passes for 223 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Chaz Sparkman had 4 catches for 121 yards, Fletch Kelsey 5 catches for 90 yards and 2 touchdowns, and Dakota Hull 1 reception for 12 yards. Micah Godfrey paced the Panther ground attack with 174 yards on 28 carries with 2 touchdowns, Dominic Seiber had 1 carry for 8 yards.

The Panthers will host Pure Youth Friday, October 6, for the final regular season home game. PURE Acadsemy is a private school in Memphis, Tennessee.
