One Day at a Time

Series: One day at a time | Story 121

Well it is a beautiful Fall morning here in our little valley, the sun is shining and the trees have beautiful colors of orange, yellow and red, they are so pretty and there is a breeze blowing and the leaves are falling.

We have not had a bad frost yet, just some light scattered patches of frost. This morning it was 41 degrees and it is too cold to sit out on the porch. The cats did not come up for breakfast until the sun warmed things up a little. The cats like to sleep in on these cold mornings, they have now had their breakfast and are enjoying the warm sunshine.

We have had another busy week, Bobby got some of our Winters firewood ranked on the back porch, we got some more yard work done and cleaned some windows. I got some housework done, I have to move a few things around to get ready to start my Christmas decorating, I am getting so excited, no I am not crazy, I love this time of year. After the holidays I will be able to start my quilting again, and I love that time to.

We have had some cold nights but the days have been warm so it has not been cold enough to build a fire in the old wood heating stove. Bobby has got the old wood heating stove cleaned and ready for when we need to use it, each year he cleans it out and cleans its flue pipes.

We have been enjoying some good turnip greens that Rick and Pam, our son-in-law and daughter, brought us, and yesterday I fried a big skillet of sweet potatoes and I also made a big pot of vegetable soup and a big pan of brown cornbread.

Bob is almost through with his physical therapy and he is doing much better. He is getting more and more spoiled each time he goes to therapy and guess who did it? Just ask Trent and the girls at physical therapy it is their fault.

There is still a lot of trouble going on around us in this world. A lot of hurting and pain and sorrow. I know there is not much we can do to help out, but lets all pray for those people. Only God can help them, I can not worry about it because worrying does not help anything.

I have got a very busy day planned ahead, the sun is shining and it is going to be warm, so we will be able to get a lot done.

Thank all of you for the nice cards and calls, I am happy you are enjoying my little writing each week in the Herald, it is just my ramblings.

Bob has now finished washing the breakfast dishes and he has the kitchen spotless and he is enjoying his coffee with me.

I am not going to worry about tomorrow and I am going to take one day at a time because God still has it all under control and He is the light at the end of the tunnel.

God bless,

Evelyn “E.T.” Trevathan
