Helen Graves Brewer

Helen Graves Brewer, 98, passed away on Sunday, November 5, 2023, at her residence in Columbus, Mississippi. Funeral services were held on Wednesday, November 8, 2023, at Wesley United Methodist Church in Columbus; burial followed at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.

Memorial Gunter Peel Funeral Home & Crematory is in charge of arrangements.

Helen was born on December 4, 1924, in Hohenwald, to the late Mamie Hickerson and Kenny Fred Graves. She retired from Seminole Manufacturing and was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church where she also was a part of the Women’s Circle. She loved her family, was a good Christian mother, and enjoyed crocheting.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Brewer was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis Brewer; daughter, Paula Jones Lavender; brothers, Ted Graves and Kenny Paul Graves. She is survived by her daughter, Susan Halechko (John); six grandchildren, Dusty Jones, Chris Jones, Nikki O’Brian, Erika Andrews, John Paul Halechko and Joey Halechko; and nine great-grandchildren, Luke O’Brian, Lane O’Brian, Kendall Andrews, Collin Andrews, Easton Andrews, Conner Jones, Sophia Jones, Dylan Jones and Enzo Jones.

Serving as pallbearers were Luke O’Brian, Lane O’Brian, Chris O’Brian, Dusty Jones, Dale Brewer and Mel Brewer. Honorary pallbearers were Dr. Doyle Sumrall, Dr. James Barton Williams, Wayne Jones and Chris Jones.
