Serving Hohenwald, Lewis County Tennessee Since 1898
Q.) Can you tell me a little bit about yourself?
A.) My name is Kaylie Bowen. I am married to Blake Bowen and bonus mama to my sweet Blaine Bowen. I started an at-home bakery recently that has quickly evolved into a storefront here in town.
Q.) Where did you grow up?
A.) I grew up right here in Hohenwald.
Q.) What is one of your fondest childhood memories?
A.) All of my favorite memories are when my family is together. No matter how old I get or where I am in life, as long as I have my family, I am completely fulfilled and happy.
Q.) What did you want to be as a kid? What did you actually become?
A.) I wanted to be Taylor Swift and Hannah Montana but I became a baker.
Q.) Who was/is your biggest role model?
A.) My parents and my husband. Rachel and Jimbo Dodson, Damon Reynolds, and my Blakey all are living proof that with hard work and prayer, your entire life can turn around.
Q.) What are some of your favorite hobbies/ how do you like to spend your free time?
A.) I don't have much free time lately, but something I always make time for is dinner with my family on Thursday nights. My mom, stepdad, little brother, husband, and I go to my brother's house to eat and spend time with my twin nephews.
Q.) If you could go anywhere, in or out of the states, where would it be? Why?
A.) I've always dreamed of going to Iceland. Its history is extremely intriguing to me and it has also been known for its beauty.
Q.) What is your favorite type of music?
A.) Worship and country music.
Q.) What is one of your favorite things about living in Hohenwald?
A.) How tight-knit our community is. We support and take care of each other in ways you just don't see anywhere else.
Q.) What is your favorite time of year? Why?
A.) I love the transition from spring to summer, and also the transition from summer to fall. It's not too hot or too cold, it makes you want to just get out and drive with your windows down, grill with your family, or just sit outside and be.
Q.) Let's say you're a new addition to the crayon box, what color would you be? Why?
A.) Yellow is my favorite color so I think I will go with that. It represents joy for me. My mom always says to be the light and of course the color of all lights and things that are bright, is yellow. It also reminds me of my Cole Bates. He was living, breathing sunshine.
Q.) What do you enjoy most about your job?
A.) I love that I have a visual of my hard work. I love being able to see the gift God has given and the joy it brings to others, one sweet bite at a time.
Q.) Do you have a nickname?
A.) To my peers I do not, but if you ask my favorite people in the world, you would know me as KK or Auntie KK. My little cousins Makaela, Briley, and Slate Dodson are more like my siblings or even my own kids. Including my little brother Oaklyn Dodson and my nephews Haze and Luka Reynolds. Being their KK is my favorite title, before I am anything else, I will always be theirs.
Q.) Is there any life advice you could give to our readers?
A.) Pray about it. I'm in a season of life that I only ever dreamed of being in. My entire family is proof that prayer works. Matthew 19:26 reads "With God all things are possible." No matter where you are in life, or if you feel you have no one in the world that cares or is there for you, my God does and He never leaves.
