Serving Hohenwald, Lewis County Tennessee Since 1898
Well it is a cold morning here in our little valley, but it is not as cold as it has been, over the past week for a couple of mornings it has got down to 21 degrees here on the porch.
This morning the cats really enjoyed their bowl of warm milk, they were here and ready to eat early, they have now gone to find a warm spot to take a long winters nap.
My cup of hot coffee sure taste good, outside it is cloudy and the wind is blowing, it almost looks like it could snow, I am looking forward to seeing some flurries.
I have got most of my Christmas decorations up, I have everything that needed decorating done. I am just putting on the final touch’s on everything, so I am really ready for Christmas even if I do not put anything else up.
The other night for supper we had some of our friends from the Nashville police department and also some from our local sheriff’s department come over to eat. So now if I get too mean with Bob and he calls them on me I can remind them of the good banana pudding and bribe-a-cop cake that I fixed for them, ha, ha.
I would like to thank all our local officers and all law enforcement officers, they put their lives on the line to serve, protect and keep all of us safe. They have to deal with a lot of dangers that we do not ever hear about on the news, they have to handle problems that we would never want to face ourselves. I hope all of them have a blessed and safe Christmas.
Christmas is almost here, it is hard to believe it is just next week, it is only four days away. We were out the other day and we saw a lot of Christmas decorations and I think that Hohenwald looks great. I hope all of you have the best Christmas ever.
Soon it will be a new year and I think everyone is wondering what it will be like, we have seen a lot over the last few years, a lot of sickness and wars and bad tornados that have destroyed many homes and the cost of living is higher than I have ever seen it.
I think when these bad things happen that we need to stop and look around us and listen, because I think God might be trying to tell us something, we all live at such a fast pace and we don’t ever slow down to see what is most important.
I know sometimes it takes something serious to get my attention, I think maybe that sometimes God is trying to remind us of what is most important.
As we all come to this special time of year, lets all take a little time to stop and rediscover some of the things that are the most important to us, love one another and family and friends, and most important take a little time to talk to Jesus.
Bob has finished the breakfast dishes and he has got the kitchen spotless and now he is enjoying his cup of coffee, and he says Merry Christmas to all of you.
Bob is still in physical therapy and he is doing a lot better. Thank all of you at physical therapy for the great job all of you are doing. You all really spoil Bob and he looks forward to his physical therapy visits.
I have got some busy days planned ahead and I am looking forward to them, this is a wonderful time of year and I am watching for the snow and Santa.
I am not going to worry about tomorrow and I am going to take one day at a time because God still has it all under control and He is the light at the end of the tunnel.
Merry Christmas,
Evelyn “E.T.” Trevathan
