Lewis County Enjoys Snowfall

Hohenwald TN.

Schools closed and will reopen on Monday, Jan 22, local government offices closed, businesses either closed or ran on skeleton crews, and the city, county, and park board worked together to ensure a warming station is open until Monday at 8 a.m. for anyone needing warm shelter.

This was due to the approximately seven inches of snow that had fallen in Lewis County since it began on Sunday. Back roads continue to be hazardous as the temperature hasn't risen above freezing. People are urged not to get out unless necessary as TDOT and city officials continue to work on clearing the roadways.

The warming shelter has been used by several this week, and several community members have donated waters, warm blankets, clothing and food. Park security and law enforcement continues to patrol the area frequently for public safety.

There weren't many instances of water pipes bursting, electricity outages, or Internet/phone lines down.

There were, however, lots of "snow day" pics of families and friends enjoying time spent together!
