John Michael Barber, a loving husband, father, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on January 6, 2024, in Linden, at the age of 72. Born on April 9, 1951, in Hohenwald, to the late John Wesley and Mary Louise Hinson Barber, John's life was characterized by his loving nature, his warm sense of humor, and his dedication to his family and community.
John shared a beautiful and enduring love with his wife of 50 years, Sandra Ann Battles Barber. Their journey was enriched by the joy of raising their daughter, Lanell (Kimberly) Carter.
John was the beloved brother to Rachel Qualls, Reba Reynolds, Kay Fleming, and Roger Barber. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Kathy Burcham and Patty McCann, and his brother, Bruce Barber. The bond he shared with his siblings extended to his nieces, nephews, and the wider family circle.
With skilled hands and a meticulous eye for detail, John worked as a carpenter. His craftsmanship was not only a profession but also a passion.
John's interests were as rich and varied as the life he led. An avid outdoorsman, he relished the tranquility of turkey, deer, and squirrel hunting, respecting the natural world and its creatures. He found joy in the companionship of his squirrel hunting dogs, raising them with care and delighting in their spirited energy.
A man of many talents, John also had a knack for rebuilding computers. His fascination with technology was matched by his ability to breathe new life into old machines, a testament to his patience and ingenuity. John's laughter was a frequent and welcome sound to those around him. His sense of humor was a gift that he generously shared, brightening the days of friends and family alike.
John's love for simple pleasures was evident in his favorite pastimes. Watching "The Price Is Right" and "Gold Rush" brought him great enjoyment, as did the countless moments spent with loved ones. He was a simple man who never cared about image, believing in the importance of getting along with others.
Services were be Friday January 12, 2024 at Adair Funeral and Cremation. Burial followed in Poplin Hollow Cemetery.
