Series: Gordonsburg | Story 6

I guess everyone has something to say about the weather this past week. On Sunday afternoon around 4:30pm it began to snow and by the time we got out of church and home the roads were white and our back road was completely covered. By Monday afternoon there was over five inches of snow on the ground and even the main highways were treacherous and even those with four-wheel drives found it hard to get around. There was more snow and some sleet on top of that and the days the sun did shine much what melted only froze back during the night making it even more dangerous and slick. Where I live there was not much traffic up and down the hill and don’t think the mail ran much during the week. Trash pick up was delayed and those needing gas for heat were unable to get delivery. All in all, it was bad for many, those who could not get to work, those who have cattle or other animals who must be out and feed and check water sources it was hard on those who work to keep the roads clear and safe also. The temperatures was below zero a couple of nights and even minus zero some and in the daytime it didn’t even get much over eighteen or nineteen degrees and so much of it was still here on Monday this week. Hopefully today and tomorrow it will be much better, and the roads will clear up.

Those I know of who are sick either at home, in nursing facilities or in the hospitals are: Kasey Baker, Joyce Barnes, Kenneth and Vikie Bates, Colene Beasley, Linda Butler, Gertie Carroll, Spencer Clark, Robert and Pat Dickson, Ophelia Green, Darrell Hinson, Wanda Holloway, Debbie Johnston, Florine Johnston, Bobby Kilpatrick, Denny King, Monette King, Claire Elizabeth Mayberry, Brittany Mash, Doug Miller, Howard Miller, Jackie McFall, Joy Orman, Roger Pace, Debbie Pierce, Harry Runions, Louise “Lu Lu” Runions, Johnnie Faye Skelton, Terry Stutts, Jeff Tatum, Diane Williams, Doug Williams, and Annette Williams. Prayers for these and others who are sick and suffering from some ailments.

We wish a happy Chelsey Runions the 27th and Rory Hensley the 28th and also to Katrina Carroll, Ronnie Lynn Odom, and Kenzie Owen on February 1st, we wish for all these a very happy birthday and many more years to celebrate life.

Happy anniversary to Danny and Judy Holt on February 1st, wishing many more years for them to celebrate life together.

Prayers for all those who have lost loved ones this past week. These are the ones I know about Johnny Paul Risner, Tina Michelle Sharp, Barbara Jean Luther, Barry Elvin Rochelle, Glenda Kay Morris and Gary Marshall Deitmen. Prayers for these families and any others about which I may not know.

Hopefully we will be able to get back to normal sometime this week for the children have been out of school for over a week now and might not be able to go tomorrow either for some of the back roads are still slick.

Prayers that you have been warm and had what you needed this past week and weekend and that it will soon be warmer so we can all get out and do the things we need to. I know many are in need of things that they would love to have even if it is not a necessity.
