Shanice Hays

Series: Person of the Week | Story 41

This young lady has a heart of pure gold and an absolute beautiful soul. If you don't know her you are missing out. She loves everybody.

Q.) Can you tell me a little bit about yourself?

A.) I'm Shanice Hays, the wife of Steven Hays, who is currently deployed into Korea. I own "The Hays Effect" which is my spiritual practice and purpose. I'm currently working on opening a nail spa as well which is my passion. We have two beautiful children, with a ranch style living, fur babies and all.

Q.) Where did you grow up?

A.) I grew up in Clarksville, TN and my family is still there.

Q.) What is one of your fondest childhood memories?

A.) I would have to say my return to fourth grade after open heart surgery. It was something I wasn't expecting... coming home to a group of same aged kids cheering me on and constantly showing love.

Q.) What did you want to be as a kid? What did you actually become?

A.) I wanted to be a nail tech to be honest. I became that and so much more.

Q.) Who was/is your biggest role model?

A.) My family... My father was a high ranking NCO in the Army serving 22 years by the time he retired.

My mother was a teacher with a focus in special education and early childhood development as well as a Mayor (in GA).

And my sister, she has taught me more than anyone what being misunderstood is like and continues to show me how strong she truly is. I'm absolutely blessed to have the family I was raised and born into.

Q.) What are some of your favorite hobbies/ how do you like to spend your free time?

A.) I love spending time with my kids, close family, friends and their kiddos, or even reading.

Q.) If you could go anywhere, in or out of the states, where would it be? Why?

A.) Alaska or Switzerland... I love the snow, the mountains, the kindness of those countries.

Q.) What is your favorite type of music?

A.) I listen to everything, recently it's been gospel in any form.

Q.) What is one of your favorite things about living in Hohenwald?

A.) I love that we are able to raise our kids in a small town and personally call it our new hometown. And that the majority of the businesses here are locally owned and operated. No matter where I go whether or not it's a local restaurant, a drive through or a store like Walmart or H&R, EVERYONE is gracious to greet you. My favorite part of it all is my kids are able to witness kindness and live in a sense of community that we love and adore as southern hospitality.

Q.) What is your favorite time of year? Why?

A.) Winter, because I love the snow.

Q.) Let's say you're a new addition to the crayon box, what color would you be? Why?

A.) I wouldn't be... Because colors like me don't exist they are simply experienced.

Q.) What do you enjoy most about your job?

A.) Helping others, whether that be on a soulful level or a cosmetic/aesthetic level.

Q.) Do you have a nickname?

A.) Nici, Momma Nici, TiTi.

Q.) Is there any life advice you could give to our readers?

A.) Understanding love is the answer sounds cliche, but once you love yourself truly and deeply... you'll always find your way.

Q.) Is there anything you would like to add that my questions may not have touched on?

A.) With love and light, kindness in the heart, gratitude always in the mind, mercy being learned, ALWAYS STAY TRUE TO WHO YOU ARE. Luke 4:24-30.
