One Day at a Time

Evelyn “E.T.” Trevathan

Series: One day at a time | Story 131

Well we have been getting some much needed rain here in our little valley, they are calling for clearer and sunny weather, but I think I heard that they are still calling for a day or two of a little snow, but it still is wintertime.

The cats were here early this morning for their breakfast and the birds were at the bird feeders. I think everyone was hungry.

The rain we got was good because they said we were in a drought area. There was a lot of water flowing in our creek and the water was washing all the debris out and there was also water standing in puddles in our backyard.

The good Lord knows what we need and when we need it. The animals now have plenty of water to drink. We have not been seeing very many animals, but I did see a couple of squirrels the other day.

I am wondering what this February will be like. I know that March is always our unpredictable month, but that is when we begin to see trees coming out and see the buttercups blooming and we all get excited about Spring.

Once it starts warming up outside, that is when I start making plans on what I am going to do outside this year, I do not always get everything done that I want to but it is something to look forward to.

One of the first things that we always do in the Spring is wash our windows, and we usually get that done early in the season, I do not know why windows get so dirty during the wintertime.

Bob and me are feeling a lot better, we both got sick, but we have been staying in and getting plenty of rest and we have been trying to stay hydrated, with all these bugs go around that is about all it seems you can do to get better.

There has been a lot of sicknesses this Winter, almost everybody I talked to has had some kind of sickness. I think it really hurts the older people the worst. We had to go see Dr. Kamal and that always makes us feel better, I think it is the smiles and hugs that make us better, they are all so good to us and I think they really do love us.

The cats have gotten back in their warm beds and when I checked on them they were all sleeping. I think they might be looking forward to spring.

Bob has got his coffee and he going to relax and enjoy it, he had more dishes than normal to wash this morning, I made a big breakfast with a big skillet of biscuits and I fried up some ham. We slept in a little later this morning and so we had a later than usual breakfast, but it sure was good.

I am now trying to decide what we are going to have for dinner, our daughter Pam and her husband Rick, brought us turnips so I am going to fix them but I do not know what else, I think the turnips will go good with some pinto beans and some brown cornbread.

I am still crocheting and doing a little sewing, maybe I will have the quilt finished and ready to be quilted before the next big snow.

I am not going to worry about tomorrow and I am going to take one day at a time because God still has it all under control and He is the light at the end of the tunnel.

God bless,

Evelyn “E.T.” Trevathan
