Gordonsburg / Little Swan News by Dorothy Warf

Series: Gordonsburg | Story 179

We had a unexpected snow this week and some say that if there is a thunderstorm in February there will be snow within three days, well it happened this time but we have had some more thunderstorms with lightening and heavy rain so maybe this will prove wrong for I am ready for the snow to be over with and the warmer temperatures we had for a few days last week to stay around.

Those I know of who are sick either at home, in nursing facilities or in the hospitals are: Kasey Baker, Joyce Barnes, Colene Beasley, Linda Butler, Gertie Carroll, Spencer Clark, Robert and Pat Dickson, Paula Dyer, Ophelia Green, Darrell Hinson, Wanda Holloway, Denny King, Monette King, Claire Elizabeth Mayberry, Helen McCann, Brittany Mash, Doug Miller, Howard Miller, Jackie McFall, Joy Orman, Roger Pace, Debbie Pierce, Harry Runions, Marsha Runions, Johnnie Faye Skelton, Ann Spencer, Terry Stutts, Jeff Tatum, Diane Williams, Doug Williams, and Annette Williams. Prayers for these and others who are sick.

We wish a happy birthday to Brilynn Gray the 19th, to Jaxson Hinson and Akbar Rahman the 25th, to Shelby Paige Tiller the 28th, Dale Carroll the 29th, and Nicholas Carroll on February 1st. Wishing for all these a very happy birthday and many more years to celebrate life.

Some of the industrious gardeners have already broken their gardens getting ready for planting the first items that can withstand the cold weather. I do admire them and wish them luck in getting a good crop from their endeavors.

Prayers for all those who have lost loved ones this past week. These are the ones I know about Frances Mae Stricklin, Melinda Stricklin Bratcher, Kenny Brian Graves, Jody Alan Martin, Larry J. Richardson, Branon Elgie Marrs, and Carolyn Faye Brown. Prayers for these families and any others about which I may not know.

The buttercups around the area are just beautiful and show signs of spring are nearer than a few weeks ago. This is the first flowers that brave the cold and snow to show their beautiful colorful blooms.

Prayers for you and your family that the coming weeks will grant you peace and happiness and as you go through the coming days remember those who are less fortunate and send a card or call or perhaps a visit to show them that someone cares for them.
