Well it is a cool Spring morning here in our little valley, the sky is blue, the sun is shining, everything is greening out and some of the bigger flowers are blooming out.
The days are getting warmer and longer, soon we will start having some real warm springtime weather, and I am ready for it.
Springtime is good, but when it gets to be Summer and we start having hot days, I will be complaining about it being too hot.
The cats were not in a hurry for their breakfast this morning. They all three slept late this morning, but they eventually got up, and they even went for a walk with us this morning to check out our little orchard.
Bob is almost finished washing the breakfast dishes and when he gets done the kitchen will be spotless.
The sun is shining in on the end of the front porch and onto the rocking chairs, in a few minutes we will take our coffee out there and enjoy our coffee while we sit in the warm sunshine.
The eclipse came and went and nothing really bad happened. Bobby had some glasses for us to see it with and sometimes you could also see it when the sun was behind a few layers of clouds. I think the last eclipse that we had was back in 2017.
You know there is a lot of strange things happening, one thing is the unusual weather that we are having. But I guess it is just the days that we are living in now, some of you that are around my age know what I am talking about.
Over the years a lot of things have changed, some for the better and some for the worse. We just have to adjust the best we can. All of us have family and friends that have children and grandchildren, that know nothing about the “Good Old Days”, except for what we can tell them.
Here lately I have heard several young women that have children say that they want to learn how to garden and can their own vegetables.
Our son-in-law Rick, our daughter Pam’s husband, has started a class at his church on how to start gardening and our daughter will also be teaching a class on how to start canning. There are a lot of young people that really want to learn and we sure need to help them.
It has been another busy week. The weather has been going back and forth, from warm to cold and from sunshine to rain, but that is how early springtime is.
Soon these little periods of cool and wet weather will change to only being sunny and warm weather. We will probably still have a few little light cold spells but they will not last long.
We were walking and checking on the blueberry bushes, I have never seen so many blooms and the bees were hard at work pollinating them. It looks like this year I will be canning lots of blueberry juice and making blueberry jam.
Also for the first time in years our peach trees have lots of little peaches on them. During the times when you have, you need to prepare for the times when you will not have.
We are trying to get back to our walking everyday. Some days we have to wait until later up in the day because it has been so chilly early in the mornings. Most of the time the cats go with us when we walk, they like to walk with us and check everything out.
This morning for breakfast I made a big pan of brown biscuits and a big bowl of chocolate gravy. There is always a lot of breakfast dishes for Bob to wash but he doesn’t mind too much because he always gets to eat a good breakfast.
I am not going to worry about tomorrow and I am going to take one day at a time because God still has it all under control and He is the light at the end of the tunnel.
God bless,
Evelyn “E.T.” Trevathan
