FOCUS ON VIBRANT HEALTH

Series: FOCUS ON VIBRANT HEALTH | Story 14

Light from man-made sources does not match sunlight. It gives your body incorrect information from your environment and affects your biological functions.

Avoid artificial light before sunrise and after dark.

Most people work in environments where they are exposed to artificial light during the day. If possible, avoid fluorescent and LED lights, and use incandescent light bulbs instead. These are closer to natural light. And get outside for at least a few minutes throughout the day.

Until you have seen the sunrise and given your circadian clock the correct information, avoid bright artificial lights in the morning. Also after the sun sets, use incandescent bulbs of low wattage and orange or red colored. Blue light toxicity occurs when you expose yourself to light that contains a large portion of blue light at times that it would not naturally occur. Blue light is predominant in the sun only at mid-day. Beware of looking at bright screens after dark, such as your phone, computer and TV. You can use blue blocking glasses, and put apps such as flux or iris on your devises. But be aware that you will still be getting exposure through any exposed skin.

If you break this law of nature, the consequence can be significant disruption of your biology, resulting in poor health. Some of the signs of a disrupted circadian rhythm are difficulty with sleep, low libido, erectile dysfunction, low energy, and much more.
