Pilot Club of Hohenwald "Avoid a Scare, A Helmet You Should Wear" Bike Rodeo May 11, 2024

Pilot Club of Hohenwald, in partnership with Coordinated School Health and Hope Hohenwald, held a bike rodeo for children (ages 5-14) on May 11, 2024 at Lewis County Middle School. Students were educated on bike safety as well as learning bike skills. The event featured stations that included: bike and helmet fit, start and stop skills, scanning, how to ride safely in the street and sidewalks, etc. This event was funded through the Pilot International Founders Fund Matching Grant as well as funds from the Pilot Club of Hohenwald. Each student received a helmet as well as an event t-shirt and certificate. Students, parents/guardians also had a chance to win prizes while in attendance.

The Pilot Club would like to thank all volunteers who helped make this event happen. A special shoutout to our Anchor students who were able to participate and Friends of the Lewis County Public Library who gave each child a free book! They also promoted all of the great things going on at the library.

The Pilot Club would not be able to do what we do without the help of our community partners! We hope to host another bike rodeo next year. As we told those in attendance, "We don't fly planes. We protect brains!"
