Jimmy Moon, 78, a cherished pillar of the Hohenwald community, passed away peacefully in his hometown on May 25, 2024, surrounded by the love and warmth of his family. Born on June 16, 1945, to the late Bud and Maude Moon, he was a man whose life was defined by devotion to his family, a passion for the outdoors, and a legacy of kindness that touched all who knew him.

A loving father, Jimmy is survived by his children, Yolonda Moon, Shari Lynn Tackett, and Lisa Tibbs. His legacy continues through his cherished grandchildren, Canaan Azcarate, Dalton Skarzynski, Dallas Shore, Chris Tackett, Cody Tackett, C.C. Tibbs, and Tish Peak, and his seven great-grandchildren, who will forever hold onto the memories of their beloved patriarch. Jimmy's life was enriched by his siblings, Bonnie Curtis and Janet Cotham, who will miss his guidance and unwavering support. He was preceded in death by his granddaughter Brooklyne Skarzynski and siblings Cecil Moon, Earnest Moon, Tommy Moon, Billy Moon, Mary Farmer, Alpha Morgan, and Bessie Hinson.

The love of his life, his best friend, and significant other, Shirley Alberd, stood by his side through the journey of life. Together, they shared a bond that was evident in their mutual respect, laughter, and unwavering support for one another.

Jimmy's love for the great outdoors was a significant aspect of his life. He was a hunter and fisherman, finding solace and joy in the tranquility of nature. His enthusiasm for softball showcased his competitive spirit and love for sports. Above all, his happiest moments were those spent with his grandchildren, whether it was on a quiet fishing trip or cheering them on at their various activities.

A man of simple pleasures, Jimmy relished the times spent in the company of family and friends. His home was often filled with laughter, stories, and the warmth of shared experiences. His kindness and loving nature were the cornerstones of his character, making him a beloved figure in the lives of many.

Visitation for Jimmy Moon will be held on Saturday, June 1, 2024, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Garrett Baptist House of Faith, where friends and family are invited to share in the remembrance of a life well-lived. Following the visitation, a Celebration of Life memorial will commence at 4:00 p.m. with Brother Rich Mayberry officiating, honoring a man who left an indelible mark on the hearts of all who knew him. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to help offset the funeral expenses.
