LEWIS COUNTY Person Of The Week: Roxanne Cagle

Q.) Can you tell me a little bit about yourself?

A.) Hi! I'm Roxanne Cagle. I'm the daughter of Glenda Goodman & the late Dempsey Goodman. I am the baby of 4 daughters. I am married to Tommy Cagle. Together we have 3 kids, Daniel, Layla Mae & Jaxon.

Q.) Where did you grow up?

A.) I am born & raised right here in Hohenwald!

Q.) What is one of your fondest childhood memories?

A.) Probably one of my favorite memories is from spending the summers with both of my grandmothers. While my parents worked, I would get to go to both of my grandmothers houses and spend time with them. I was always up to date on what was happening on General Hospital thanks to my Mammy. And my Granny taught me how to make a milkshake. Not the kind you get at a drive through either! I'm pretty famous at my house for my milkshakes.

Q.) What did you want to be as a kid? What did you actually become?

A.) First I wanted to be an astronaut. That was until 1986 & I saw the Space Shuttle Challenger explosion. Next, I wanted to be a garbage man. I wanted to get to ride around on the back of the garbage truck all day. But, I started work for Farm Bureau 25 years ago at the Home Office in Columbia.

Q.) Who was/is your biggest role model?

A.) My biggest role models are my two kids. I was merely a baby raising two babies. I say we all grew up together. Over the years they have taught me more about showing people grace and forgiveness, how to be patient & how to just enjoy life.

Q.) What are some of your favorite hobbies/ how do you like to spend your free time?

A.) If it's a beautiful day out, you will likely catch me sitting out on my front porch, reading a book, taking a nap or just enjoying the quiet. Besides that, you are likely to find me at the gym.

Q.) If you could go anywhere, in or out of the states, where would it be? Why?

A.) If I ever had the opportunity to travel abroad, I would go to Australia. But if I had to stay in the states, I'd go to Hawaii.

Q.) What is "your" song?

A.) I'm not sure that I have a song! I'm sure there are songs that make me come to mind when people hear it.

Q.) What is one of your favorite things about living in Hohenwald?

A.) Probably the Memorial Day parade tradition. I love watching our veterans walk through town with pride!

Q.) What is your favorite time of year? Why?

A.) Spring time is probably my favorite time of year. I love those days where it's just nice out. Not hot or cold. You can have the windows open. Flowers are starting to bloom. Grass is turning green.

Q.) What do you enjoy most about your job?

A.) Definitely the friendships I've made a long the way. I mean, 25 years of making friends is a lot of friends!!

Q.) Do you have a nick name?

A.) Some of my friends call me Roxy. Some call me Veena, which is my first name.

Q.) If you could spend one day as a TV character, who would it be?

A.) Probably any character from the old show Dallas. I really want to know who shot JR.

Q.) Is there any life advice you could give to our readers?

A.) When my kids were little, every time we left my parents house my dad always gave them a few encouraging words & they seem appropriate to share today: Be nice to your mom. Be nice to your teachers & most importantly, don't do anything stupid.
