Grand Opening Held for New Pavilion at the Buffalo River Blueway

Lewis County Government recently hosted a Grand Opening at the new Pavilion located at the Buffalo River Blueway Public Access Point at the Mouth of Grinder's Creek.

This project was paid for with a Tourism Enhancement Grant that the county was awarded earlier this year by the Tennessee Department of Tourist Development. The Pavilion represents a significant milestone for the community, and offers a versatile space that will provide endless opportunities for recreational and social gatherings.

The Pavilion was built by Summertown Metals, who submitted the low bid for the project earlier this Spring. It measures 24x40 feet, is made of beautifully stained cypress wood, and has a uniquely stamped and sealed concrete floor. It also has an open-air design that will accommodate both large and small gatherings.

The Pavilion's location along the Buffalo River presents exciting opportunities for outdoor enthusiasts as well. Its proximity to the riverfront will enable various water-based activities, including kayaking, fishing, and swimming. This integration of nature and recreation will not only promote health and wellness, but also attract tourism, thus boosting the local economy.

The Hohenwald/Lewis County Chamber of Commerce, led by Director Debbie Landers, also held a Ribbon Cutting ceremony at the event. Matt Stoll, owner of Summertown Metals, was given the honor of cutting the ribbon, in appreciation of his leadership and personal attention to the project, as well as his donation of several additional features he added to the Pavilion at no charge to the county.

"I want to express my sincere gratitude to the State of Tennessee, the Lewis County Commission, the Buffalo River Blueway Committee, Summertown Metals, and all the individuals who helped contribute to this remarkable project," stated Lewis County Mayor Jonah Keltner. "Their dedication and support have been instrumental in creating a space that will benefit our community for generations to come."
