TCAT Holds GroundBreaking Ceremony

TCAT Hohenwald held their Groundbreaking Celebration on Friday, June 7, 2024, to unveil the new design and expansion of TCAT Hohenwald. "This," said Tennessee Board of Regents Chancellor Dr. Flora Tydings, "is just the beginning of many more opportunities to provide quality technical training and workforce development throughout our South Central area to better meet the needs of business and industry and supply our workforce with TCAT graduates."

The TCAT Hohenwald Master Plan will include expansion of Main Building, with redesign and re-facing of the main entrance and will include a new multi-purpose area in the main building. Addi6tonally, the Master Plan will include the expansion of Automotive Technology and Welding Technology. For Automotive, the design will allow an expansion of the classroom and additional bay areas that will offer an Electric and Hybrid option of training and the expansion of Welding Technology that will include a new classroom area and new welding training area with self-ventilation, self-contained booth areas for the various types of welding, to include Stick MIG and TIG. The TCAT Hohenwald Expansion has been a part of the Tennessee Board of Regents Master Plan for several years and will allow the Campus to continue to offer state of the art technical education and training to the South Central area to meet the needs of new innovation of our area business and industry, and supply quality trained graduates to the workforce. This capital project expansion will positively impact our community tremendously, along the South Central area ----by providing our students with opportunities to further expand technical education for years to come.

"I would like to say we greatly appreciate all the businesses and industries, who have believed in TCAT Hohenwald and our TCAT Mission for years, I would like to say a special thank to our Faculty & Staff, and especially those who have helped us prepare for this day Thank you to the Tennessee Board of Regents, Chancellor Tydings and Staff who played a significant part in getting the Master Plan started and making it a reality, as well as our legislators, many who are with us today. Lastly, a special thank you to our students, you are our #1 priority! Thank you to all who have supported and attended today!"

In attendance were numerous faculty, staff and students, along with TBR Chancellor Dr. Flora Tydings, area legislators Senator Dr. Joey Hensley and State Representative Jody Barrett with representatives, several local elected officials, business and industry representatives. Following the ceremony, attendees enjoyed a reception with cake, finger sandwiches and gift bags filled with TCAT goodies.
