My fellow Lewis Countians, I, Jack Holt, am humbly asking for your vote as I am running for re-election of the Sixth (6th) District Seat of the Lewis County School Board. Both born and raised here in Lewis County, my wife, Karen and I have both worked here locally for all our adult lives. We have two daughters, Carmen Kelsey (Kip) and Cortni Isbell (Rusty), both who were schooled through our school system and graduated Lewis County High School. We have three grandchildren who are all students in Lewis County Schools. I do have a vested interest in our school system, not only for my own grandchildren, but all of the children of Lewis County. I believe we have a vision for our children to be as successful as possible. With the other board members, we have a vision to provide a safe learning environment, full of every opportunity we can provide, all while being as fiscally responsible as we can be to the taxpayers of the county. We have implemented safety measures in each building and now have a Safety Resource Officer in each as well. We are in the building process of the new High School which is to be completed mid-2025. We have added and continue to add more and more CTE classes to expand the curriculum and offer more opportunities for the student body. We have a great relationship with TCAT and surrounding colleges, offering great dual enrollment opportunities for our High School students. In addition to security and curriculum, our vision also includes supporting our teachers and support staff, to give them the best opportunity to educate our youth. We were able to get all staff raises. We have also secured free breakfast and lunch for all students for the 2024-2025 school year. As a board member, I appreciate the support of the parents and grandparents of our children who get their loved ones to school. It is vitally important for the children to be in school, so they do not fall behind. I also understand we are battling a rising pandemic in youth vaping. As we try to find ways to get that out of the schools, we know that we need the help of the family at home. I believe in our system, I believe in our staff, I believe in our community. Please vote Jack Holt for your Sixth (6th) District School Board Member.

Glenda Atkinson recently announced her candidacy for re-election to the 2nd district school board seat. "I have been a resident of the second district my entire life and graduated from Lewis County High School in 1969. My husband, Danny Atkinson, have resided on Marvin Whitehead Road for 56 years. I retired from Lewis County Herald in February 2021. Danny and I attend Little Swan Church of Christ." "I first began serving on the board in 1991 and continued until 2004 at which time I decided not to run due to the health of my parents, Marvin and Wilton Whitehead. After their passing I made the decision to run for election again and have served from 2008 until present. I am a level four school board member and have attended all state board certification classes. "The education of our children has always been a passion of mine. We have come a long ways over the years with the education of our students. We are in the progress of building a new high school. LCHS currently offers dual enrollment courses through Freedom Hardeman, Columbia State, UT Southern and TCAT. A high school student can now graduate with an associates degree or technology certification with their high school diploma. Our CTE programs in middle and high school are outstanding. "Early voting begins July 12 and time is running near for the August election. I would like to take this opportunity to ask you, the voters of the second district, for your vote of confidence in me as your board member."
